Met these folks on the boardwalk at Coney yesterday while I was strolling with some friends. They were all really nice people. This is an amazing project...I encourage everyone to participate. Thanks for preserving the faces of Brooklyn in 2008 and best of luck with the rest of the project. -JC
Brooklyn based photographer, Nora Herting is taking portraits of Brooklyn residents to serve as a photographic record of the diversity and vibrancy of New York's most populous borough at the beginning of a new century. The resulting portraits will be gifted both to the residents that participate and for the inclusion in the Brooklyn Historical Societies photographic archive.
About Interpreting Brooklyn
The Interpreting Brooklyn Project is a group of artists and writers who will create original artwork inspired by the Brooklyn Historical Society's collection. The new works will be exhibited next to the BHS collection in March 2009. This project was made possible by the Getty Foundation.
